Returning Home to Australia

For those who haven't heard, I have some big news!
  • After 1 year, 8 months since I left Australia...
  • After a total of 29 countries...
  • After travelling approximately 450km by boat, 2,500km by train, 3,000km by car, 11,000km by bus, and 55,000km by air
  • After meeting hundreds of people throughout the world who will forever occupy a special place in my heart...
I have decided to return to Australia!!

Interestingly, the decision to return 'home' has been just as hard as the decision to come over in the first place.

So many thoughts have been rattling around in my head.  Is it the right time? Is it the right decision? Are there opportunities I'm going to miss out on?

Regardless of these thoughts, I know in my heart that I have truly seen and done things that I never would have thought possible. I have conquered every goal and every dream I had before I left and I feel like it is the right time to head home.

The future holds many unknowns.  While this feels like such a vulnerable position to be in, I wouldn't have it any other way. It's the way it's been since I left Australia and the way it will be for a while to come.  One thing I have observed is people seem to shy away from the unknown. The fear of change is an actual defined phobia called Metathesiophobia. It's something that can have everyone shaking in their boots. But if you push past the fear, if you resolve yourself to keep moving, if you look at change as something adventurous and exciting, then there are endless opportunities ahead.

So without further ado, here is my final travel map for Scotty's Eurotrip April 2015 to October 2016!!!  You can view the full map to zoom in and out HERE

I can safely say that in my (almost) 22 years on this planet, the last two years have been the best years of my life. I have so much excitement for the next 22 years.

The natural question is "What now?"  Well at this point, the answer to that is reconnect with family and friends, start appreciating and travelling through Australia, and as usual... stay adventurous and love life!

Looking forward to seeing everyone in Australia :)

    1. NZ is pretty much top of my list now Renate, but I want to do it when I have more time and a little more money. The NZ outdoors is seriously calling me though! :)
